once upon a time…
In a far country, a woman was walking on a deserted beach at sunset. Gradually, she drew a silhouette of a little girl on the horizon. I came closer and noticed that the girl kept bending over to pick up something, which she immediately threw into the sea.
As she got closer, the woman noticed that the girl was actually picking up starfish that had been washed ashore by the rising tide, and tossed them back into the water.
The woman was fascinated. She approaches the little girl and says, “Hi, I can ask you a question. I’ve been watching you for a while now and wondering what you’re doing.” I throw the starfish back into the sea. It’s low tide, you know, and all the starfish washed ashore. ‘If I don’t throw them back into the ocean, they’ll die,’ replied the girl.
The woman gave him a puzzled look before adding, “But there must be thousands of starfish on this huge beach. You can’t save them all. There are simply too many. And you must realize that the same phenomenon is happening on other beaches throughout your country. Don’t you see that Can’t you change the fate of this starfish?”.
The girl smiles. She bent down again and picked up another starfish, threw it back into the sea and added, “That changes everything for that one!” »

This seemingly ordinary story of starfish is actually a great life lesson: we sometimes tend to think that our actions are useless, that they will not “change the face of the world,” as they say. Human actions, such as starfish, would seem frivolous or unnecessary if taken separately. But every stone is as necessary to construct the edifice as every human being is to build a better world.
