This is what I took from Playstation Showcase 2023!
Last night, like many other gamers around the world, I attended the Playstation 2023 presentation. Playstation clearly indicated that it would be a presentation for the best video game developers in the world! That’s it! 😀 I obviously did a good job of being careful, at least I wasn’t (very) disappointed. Perhaps expectations were too high and this trend of “hype” has caused collateral damage, especially among Playstation fans.
That’s what disappointed me!
Let’s talk about Playstation Q! I’m not going to beat around the bush, I don’t see the point of the Playstation 5 Mablette! Simply put, it’s an 8-inch LCD tablet with a piece of DualSense on each side! This Playstation Q will allow you to stream your Playstation 5, nothing more, nothing less. Honestly, it is of no use unless offered at a low price. For information, you can actually stream your Playstation, via the mobile app PS Remote Play On your smart tablet and even PC! Playstation has also introduced premium earbuds like the Apple airpods. So much for the frankly dispensable hardware part
Now let’s move on to software, to video games from the Playstation studios. Well, it was crossing the desert. Fortunately, Spiderman 2 saved the day when the Playstation Showcase ended with a long gaming session. The game still looks fun, and I can’t wait to play it, but visually the downgrade looks violent, and honestly, this game can run perfectly on PS4 and PS4 Pro.
Other Playstation Studios games weren’t there. I swiped right on PSVr 2 games, it’s not crazy. They mainly talked about Beat Saber, Resident Evil 4 in VR, and other games I don’t remember. Fortunately, third-party publishers have made a more than correct and more interesting offer thanks to several promising video games!
The red card on the other hand for a Square Enix game that smells like Splatoon-filled plagiarism, the foam version :-/
Good surprises!
I start with French publisher UbiSoft who just unveiled the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Mirage gameplay! I did not expect such a visual slap! We feel like our controllers are finally being used properly! What I enjoyed most is the gameplay that seems to get back to the basics of the assassin saga! The game also seems to be letting go of the RPG and seems to make more sense for its age! In short, I can’t wait to play it next October!
The second good surprise is obviously Alan Wake 2! I copied the first Alan Wake on my Xbox 360, which means this sequel was unexpected for me :p. It looks even scarier than the first opus and the atmosphere always looks excellent! So, I can’t wait to play it! However, it’s too bad that the next Alan Wake 2 will only be presented in a dematerialized form
We can count on Next Final Fantasy, it doesn’t speak to me, but it’s a very popular saga. We’ll also be able to play Street Fighter 6 in a few days, it’s going to be so funny, I can’t wait 🙂
A soul-like game, Phantom Blade 0 caught my eye. I don’t like this gameplay, because it’s hard and hard video games, but I have to admit that the gameplay was great! Visually it was also very inspiring.
I’ll be keeping a close eye on Bungie’s next video game, Marathon, Bungie’s historic multiplayer FPS license.
The Teardown trailer piqued my curiosity! It’s a mix between Minecraft and a demolition derby racing game, it can be fun.
Other video games appeared!
There were a lot of games presented, but unfortunately many of them only offered CGI trailers (ex: Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater), we will come back later to play :-/. There were also some games from the indie scene, some of which stood out, like sea sword.
What I noticed is that the Playstation Showcase relied heavily on the multiplayer video games genre of Game As A Service (GaaS), a change from the single-player narrative Playstation games.
If you’d like to discover the full list of games presented during this Playstation show (there were a lot…), then it’s below!
