WhatsApp recently tested a way to avoid spam calls, which are very common on the popular messaging platform. Today, this feature has started to be used by some users, which indicates its official arrival soon.

WhatsApp has rolled out a new beta update for Android, version Version 2.23.10.7which are offered to specific users New option “Unknown numbers are muted”. Enabling this feature will help users ignore calls from strangers, which can often be spam.

Moreover, this option can help users avoid calls when they are in an important meeting or while they are at work. The option is in the privacy settings and users just need to enable the toggle for it to work. I managed to access this feature and here is a screenshot to get a better idea of it.

One thing to note is that Although the feature will not display incoming calls from unknown people, missed calls will still be listed on the tab. calls so you can check them later. This feature is currently available to select users in beta and is expected to roll out more widely in the coming weeks. We expect it to be available for iOS users as well.

Separately, WhatsApp recently added updates related to polls and media transfers. When moving media and documents, users will now be able to edit, delete or keep the caption as per their requirement. Regarding polls, it is now possible to take a single vote and search for them in discussions. In addition, users will receive a notification each time a vote is taken.
